Top Upcoming Cars in India 2016

Top Upcoming Cars in India 2016

The 2015 launch calendar of the Indian auto market is quite packed but we have talked enough about the vehicles that are set to go on sale this year. Here is a list of  the 10 hot upcoming cars to India in 2016, a year which will host the Auto Expo, so several launches can be expected in the early part itself.

1.Tata Nexon

The first crossover by Tata Motors is expected to break cover at the Auto Expo 2016.
The final production version is said to appear Like A Mini Range Rover Evoque. Latest reports claim that the sub-4 metre SUV will be powered by a new 1.5-litre diesel motor mated to a 6-MT in addition to a 1.2-litre petrol motor.

2.Maruti YBA

The YBA will be Maruti’s answer to the Nexon and the car has already started testing. The technical details are under wraps but the design cues are borrowed by the XA Alpha and iV-4 concepts in equal measure. Based on the swift, the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and the 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engines are possible candidates but there are also rumors about a new 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel (downsized from 1.6-litre MultiJet) engine. The YBA could be launched at the Auto Expo in February.

3.Tata Pelican

The Pelican (codename) is essentially an extensively improved model based on the Nano platform. It remains to be seen if the Pelican will carry the Nano nameplate or use a new one. Powertrain lineup is speculated to include a 1.0-litre petrol motor and a 800 cc twin-cylinder diesel engine. Not much is known about the car. Expect it to be ready in the first half of 2016.

4.VW Taigun

VW India’s bid to enter the flourishing compact crossover SUV would take shape in 2016 in the form of the Taigun. Though the German auto giant maintains that the compact SUV segment is crucial for its Indian operations, it’s tight lipped about the tech details or launch timeframe. It’s safe to assume that the current crop of 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines will be under the hood. Launch should happen in first part of 2016.

5.Toyota Innova

The next gen Innova has been spotted testing several times in India and Thailand. The eagerly anticipated family MPV will make its global premiere this year followed by an Indian debut sometime in early 2016. Underpinned by the new ladder frame chassis, the 2016 Innova is expected to be lighter and stiffer. The MPV is also likely to offer new engine options.

6.New Honda Accord

Owing to the utter lack of demand for the petrol only Accord, Honda withdrew it from the Indian market however, there are plans to bring in the current gen model. Expected to launch in the next fiscal (by March 2016), the D-segment sedan just retired from Europe.
